emerge |iˈmərj|
verb [ intrans. ]
move out of or away from something and come into view.
Who?
Emerge is a camp for young people who long to see God do great things in Greenwood, SC. Rising 7-12 grade students are welcome to attend along with college students and adults who wish to serve as volunteer camp staff (kitchen Crew, team leaders, etc.)
What?
Emerge is a mission camp which allows students to serve right here in their own community. Students will spend the entire day serving on one of three tracts - Children’s Ministry (sports camps), Construction, and Social Ministry - and in the evenings students will have a time of worship and prayer, followed by late night activities.
When?
Sunday, July 27th - Friday, August 1st
Where?
Greenwood, SC
Students will be sleeping on the campuses of North Side Baptist Church (guys) and South Main Baptist Church (girls). Students will spend the day serving throughout the Greenwood Community
Why?
The purpose of Emerge is to enable young people to embrace God’s call to deny themselves and follow Christ wherever He may lead them. This calling requires us to “move out” of our comfort zones and the comfortable walls of our church buildings. Jesus spent much of His time on earth serving people and meeting their needs. If we are truly followers of Christ, we will live our lives as Jesus did (1 Jn. 2:6). Following Christ is crazy; its radical! When God’s people are willing to live their lives as Christ did, the life-changing power of Jesus Christ will “come into view.” Young people are not the future of the church; they are an integral part of the contemporary church. We want young people to make a difference in their home community.
